In his acceptance speech, Christian emphasized the great importance of cooperation between all trades. In “All quiet on the Western Front” this is very obvious in the detailed and finely tuned costume design by Lisy Christl, the disturbingly realistic make-up design by Heike Merker and the dense and dynamic camera work by James Friend, who also received an award. These 4 film artists* and their teams have created stunning images!

After “The Tin Drum”, “Nowhere in Africa” and “The Lives of Others”, “All quiet on the Western Front” is the fourth German film in the history of the Oscars to receive the award for Best International Film and the first to win a total of four Academy Awards.
